Let’s Be Together Arts Festival Hong Kong
We believe in GOD, humanity and theatre. We hunger and seek for new thinking through different approach of text and language; we question and explore the present world through plays; we hope and search the way to be a better man through the dialogues between theatre and the audience. We believe theatre and society are closely related.
Our artistic director Miss Cathy SK Lam attended a forum hosted by Let’s Be Together Arts Festival in Kaohsiung in May 2017; she was deeply touched by the ideas of the Festivals and the passions of local artist. She hoped she would be able to curate the same in Hong Kong, and our company also believed it might be a chance to transform the art scene in Hong Kong. Therefore, we asked for the permission and here we are, the first Let’s Be Together Arts Festival X Hong Kong. "No boundaries" is our belief, and also our "theme" this year to run the festival, there will be no limitation on age, experience, nationalities, subject or art form; all we hope is that artists can present their works and express themselves without pressure. May be we are poor by cash, but our creativity is too rich to ignore!

Special Programme:
We are happy to announce our collaboration with Dutch Travel Information Platform Withlocals and local tour company, Armiego Walking Tour in Hong Kong, to host a walking tour about Kowloon Walled City. Also, we have invited one of city's favourite local walking tour guides, Armie, to be the Ambassador of the festival! So stay tuned for the handsome festival update from our Ambassador Armie!
About the walking tour:
Kowloon Walled City, such a world-stunning modern day slum that no other place on earth can be compared.
Walking into the infamous squatter area, where shanties, old and new buildings of different storey were leaning precariously, you are lost in the invisible lanes and corridors that run among the tightly packed shacks. Opium dens, brothels and gambling parlours were just next-door. This was an enclave governed by no one - a "Sin City" as you name it. There were so many aspects that made this place unbelievable and unforgettable - its complicated history and confusing identity; the terrifyingly poor living condition... This virtually anarchic, lawless labyrinth had truly existed in our city for more than a century!
A Hong Kong famous poet, Prof. PK Leung described Kowloon Walled City as the closest thing to a truly self-regulating, self-sufficient, self-determining modern city that has ever been built. He wrote, “It was a very complex place, difficult to generalize about, a place that seemed frightening but where most people tried to continue a normal life. A place just like the rest of Hong Kong.”
Today, many foreigners and Hong Kongers are still very impressed by Kowloon Walled City. Yet, most of us barely heard of its rumors, while younger generations probably have no idea about the place. Since the Walled City had been completely torn down in early 90’s, it is hard to imagine what it used to look like. Even the name itself is often mistaken. However, by sharing its stories, we can still once again get to know this legendary place, which carries a significant part of Hong Kong history and character, and thus broaden our understanding and imagination of this city.
We will keep updating details about sponsorship, partnership, venue and festival news; please stay tuned.

Let’s Be Together Arts Festival was first curated in Kaohsiung, Taiwan by We Art Foundation. We Art Foundation formed by a group of Taiwanese artist who loves Southern Taiwan, wants to transform the art scene in Southern Taiwan - to create more opportunities for the artists in the South and to connect the local artist to the world. That’s why they started Let’s Be Together Arts Festival. Most artists suffer from solitary and poverty. Let’s Be Together Arts Festival tried to provide all the possible support to the artists, economically and spiritually; at the same time, no limitation and restriction is set which means artist at all ages, with different experiences, from different genre can apply for the festival. No fee will be collected from the applicants. Instead, we provide free administrative and marketing support and most important, free venue and a carefree environment to create. We believe nothing is trivial. This festival may be not as huge as the fringe festivals all over the world, but all great things start small. No one had thought of Edinburgh Fringe Festival would become one of the greatest arts festivals after 70 years. This is the third year of Let's Be Together Arts Festival, and we are proud to announce the number of events is increasing and more venues are willing to partner with us.
